Rattus norvegicus
Description
Often misidentified as a Water Vole when seen near water. Pointed muzzle and large ears (hairy). Fur colour very variable but usually dark brown, paler grey below. Tail is as long as its head and body and is darker above than below. Head and body length up to 290mm
Widespread in the county recorded from 26 out of 35 hectads (16 since 2010).
