A very familiar mammal presenting no identification problems when clearly seen. A variable red/brown coat with a white throat and underside. A long and bushy tail which often has a white tip. A slender white muzzle and errect ears.

Widespread in the county recorded from 29 out of 35 hectads (20 since 2010). A frequent visitor to urban gardens which is the source of the majority of records. Much more scarely recorded in the wider countryside
